Ingredients

Chopped onions 4
Butter, margarine or oil 5 ml (1 tsp) (5 ml)
Beef or chicken broth without added salt 1 liter (4 cups)
Basil 5 ml (1 tsp)
Thyme 1/4 tsp
Garlic powder 1ml (1/4 tsp)
Salt and pepper to taste
Toasted crusted baguette bread 4 slices
Grated cheese (20% m.g and under) 250 ml (1 cup)
Preparation
Lightly brown the onions with the fat in a saucepan. Add broth as needed. Add broth and seasonings. Cook uncovered over low heat for about 20 minutes. Pour into bowls and cover with a slice of toasted crust bread. Place the cheese on top of everything. Grill in a broil oven for about 5-10 minutes. Serve.
