Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F). Line a 23 x 13 cm (9 x 5 in) loaf pan with parchment paper.
In a large bowl, mash the bananas with a fork. Add the eggs, applesauce, maple syrup, and milk. Mix together.
Incorporate the flour, baking powder, flax or chia seeds, salt, and cinnamon or vanilla extract, if desired.
Add the walnuts and raisins or dates. Mix gently.
Pour mixture into loaf pan.
Bake in oven for 45 to 55 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the centre of the loaf comes out clean.
Let cool slightly before removing from pan and placing on a wire rack.
N.B. Freezes very well in slices for quick snacks.
